March?

March Snow - Canned-Time.com

What a peaceful way to end my March.  After working in miserable, cold weather all winter, I got to enjoy one last beautiful snow….from the comfort of my bedroom window Monday morning.

And as beautiful as this spring snow was, was because it was all gone by the afternoon….

I’d much rather be snapping pics like this one from last spring out my windows.

Didn’t expect to be taking snow pics at the end of March in DC.

Earlier this month, I drove through Antietam National Battlefield on my way home from work.  I thought it was cold that day too so maybe I’m just ready for real spring weather.

23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or went missing on these fields in just 12 hours in 1862 and paved the way to the Emancipation Proclamation.

I’m almost certain that I was the only one in the park that day and with the wind howling it was kind of creepy.  Beautiful fields though.

And I’m really glad that I wasn’t the one who had to build this fence that seemed to go on forever all through the park.

I have a slight obsession with these fences I guess.  This one is in Charlestown, WV on a much warmer day last May.

My next project will be far less dramatic than the battle at Antietam.  A new waffle iron to break in this week.  Red Velvet sounds like a perfect way to test it out.  Belgian waffles here I come ;p

Love your photos, Angela. And we’re also waiting for spring…sigh. One of the things I really enjoyed about living in DC was having access to the civil war sites. It was a favorite weekend activity for me and Kel. We also visited Antietam on a brutally cold and stark day. As you say, eerie – but special because we could almost put ourselves back in time.

I tried to imagine that much violence and it’s just not in me. Most of those soldiers were probably younger than I was when I had trouble just getting to an 8am class X( We are a spoiled bunch in the US.

Thank you Somer. I have lots of time alone with my job so it helps to keep your head clear of distractions I guess.
And the waffles are ….well, in my tummy!! I think I’ll start a new ‘Waffle’ blog…if I can find someone to clean up the kitchen that is, HAA!
BTW, I hope you can check out that ‘Sunny Raw Kitchen’ blog. I think it has she has a lot of similar health problems and you might be able to get some answers. Hope so. Feel good today Girl 🙂
