Healthy Fun Food Recipe Contest

The September Healthy Fun Food Recipe Contest is finally here!

Here’s how is works:

To enter the contest just e-mail Canned Time a picture of your healthy food & the recipe (or a blog posting showing it) and I will post the picture / recipe & and blog post link on this posting and on

Contest Specific Pinterest Boards for each category of the contest

1 Sweet board and 1 Savory board.

The 2 winners will have the highest number of comments, repins and likes out of all the recipes submitted during September.

Example:  Susie submits a recipe and picture for
her grandmom’s banana bread.
In September, her recipe receives 12 Pinterest ‘likes’ on the contest board, 25 ‘repins’ and 4 comments.  So Susie’s total for her recipe would be = 41 total.
 

The 2 recipes with the highest total in each category will be the winner.

So what will the winner win?

Silpat will be awarding the winner of the Savory category 1 half sheet

And the Sweet category winner will win a gift box of Vegan and Chocolate Cookies from Nana’s Cookies!

Plus there will be surprise winners along the way throughout September for different achievements from Canned Time……………

Salmon Jerky from Gutsy    ‘Savory Category entry’ # 1

INGREDIENTS:
Brine:
½ cup raw apple cider vinegar
1 T organic lemon juice
2 T coconut aminos
1 T paprika
½ T onion powder
½ T garlic powder
1 ½ tsp sea salt
1 cup of filtered water
 
14 oz wild salmon (partly frozen)

Coconut Flour Banana Bread from GUTSY 

“Sweet” Category Entry #1

 
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup coconut flour (I use Wilderness Family Naturals)
1 1/2 cup very ripe bananas (2-3 bananas)
4 pastured eggs
6 T butter or coconut oil (melted)
5 T raw honey or vanilla honey
2-3 squirters full of stevia (40-60 drops drops in a squirt) *optional
1/4 tsp sea salt
1t-1T cinnamon
1/2 t baking soda
1 T vanilla

Coconut Milk Yogurt – from GUTSY  “Sweet” Category Entry # 2
 

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups homemade coconut milk
1 ½ cans coconut milk (20.25 oz)
1 pureed young coconut meat (optional)-  This doesn’t really change the texture much. I like to use the water for young coconut water kefir, so I always have left over meat. Adding the young coconut meat also helps feed the fermentation process.
pinch of sea salt
3 TBS organic sugar or raw honey
8 tsp grass fed gelatin
1 T vanilla (optional)
1 packet of vegan yogurt starteror ½ cup premade coconut milk yogurt

Gaps Pizza from GUTSY  “Savory” Category Entry # 2

Ingredients:
1. cheese and black olives
2. organic pepperoni (nitrate free)
3. crumbled sausage, roasted green paper, mushroom
3. greek olives, spinach, caramalised onions, feta cheese
4. tomato, basil , mozzarella cheese (classy and simple!)
5. pesto sauce, tomatoes, and raw milk cheese
6. pizza sauce and cashew cheese (dairy free version) * i am trying this very soon!

Snickerdoodles from GUTSY – “Sweet” Category Entry # 3

Ingredients:
dry:
2 cups almond flour (I use Honeyville)
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp baking soda (omit if you are on GAPS)
 
wet:
5 TBS ghee/butter Melted (coconut oil works too, but they will taste more coconutty)
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup or vanilla honey (omit vanilla extract if you use vanilla honey) **
1 1/2 TBS vanilla extract
** low sugar option: 2 TBS honey + 40 drops of stevia (2 squirt droppers full)
 
coating:
3 TBS coconut crystals (omit if you are on GAPS)
3 TBS cinnamon

Gaps- Chocolate Drops – from GUTSY “Sweet” Category Entry # 4

Ingredients:
3 oz Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp sea salt or 4 ml (4 full squirts) Mega-Mag Liquid
1/2 – 3/4 cup raw honey (depends on how sweet you like it –just taste test it!)
1/2 cup Raw Coconut Oil

Liver Pate from GUTSY – “Savory” Category Entry # 3

 Ingredients:
1 t fresh sage, parsley, rosemary, and thyme (feel free to play around with the herbs you like)
7 garlic cloves
1 medium onion
1 lb chicken livers
4 T butter/ghee
1 1/4  t salt
8 T butter/ghee (cold)

INGREDIENTS:

 Banana Blueberry Bread from GUTSY “Sweet” Category Entry # 8

INGREDIENTS:
wet:
3 medium very brown bananas
3 egg yolks
3 TBS melted coconut oil or ghee
1/4 cup real maple syrup or honey or vanilla honey
2 tsp ACV
10-20 drops of stevia (optional if you like your bread a little sweeter)
2 tsp if vanilla extract
dry:
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp sea salt
2 1/2 cups of almond flour (I use Honeyville)
2 TBS of coconut flour
2 tsp of cinnamon (add a few extra tsp if you want cinnamon banana bread)
egg whites:
3 egg whites

Chicken Bruschetta from SheShe’s Gluten Free – “Savory” Category Entry #6

 
Ingredients:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (butterflied)
3 medium ripe tomatoes
Fresh Basil – about 3 stalks or 2 -3 leaves per breast
Salt and Pepper for seasoning
