I’ve had this fruit ‘butter’ in my “to try” file for some time now and finally gave it a try.  Its really a wonderful texture and about as healthy a spread as you’re gonna get.  My version is adapted from ‘Vanilla Spiced Pear Butter’ from Good Life Eats.

I limited my spices to just Cinnamon.  I also used half the sugar, added some Vanilla Liquid Stevia from NuNaturals and left out the citrus juices.  I had 4 large red pears.  I also left on the peels which are full of nutrients.  Fruit jams are some what of a balancing act in recipes since no two fruits have just the same amount of juice so you’ll have to adjust your batch to your own ingredients.

I really love pears and sometimes have trouble not snacking on too many while trying to cut them up for recipes.  If you let them get just ripe enough they are just lovely for a fresh dessert.  Some times of the year, you’re doing good just to find them in the stores though.  And this fruit butter will get you through those colder months so you can enjoy spreading a little sweet love on your toasts, crackers, even warm a little up and drizzle it on desserts.  It is thick enough to be a wonderful cake or cookie filling as well.

You can use this same recipe for so many other fruits that may be in season.  Or just freeze a jar or two while the fruits are fresh and enjoy the flavor all year long ♥

In my experience, red pears are the sweetest variety.  And fit in well with my Vegan MoFo ‘Red’ theme, don’t you think?

Sick of Canned Time Red yet?

Hope not.  There’s still plenty to come this month, including 2 awesome book giveaways.  Stay tuned folks.

It is really good although I’m not sure what the ‘butter’ part has to do with it other than it’s kind of creamy. I think its just to put a fancier name on it, he he!
And not sure if i’ll do the MoFo thing next year. I feel like my recipes are getting more and more lost the further into the month we go. I’m spending a lot of time working and then getting stressed about not doing more posts, which is silly.
Anyway, I know I’m missing out on a lot of great food cause I don’t have enough time to surffffffffff

I love red pears too and even better if they’re smothered in cinnamon! I so very much want this yumful butter on top of vegan vanilla ice cream…or waffles…or both! Thank you for the recipe…your MoFo posts rock! 🙂

Wow, thank you for your wonderful comments and I’m glad you liked the pears. Pretty simple recipe but I like simple and good for you food, especially when it tastes great right? Thanks for sharing and I hope to see you around for more ‘red’ MoFo fun here 🙂
