Tasty Vegan Pet Treats & Mr. Floyde turns 9

Tasty Vegan Pet Treats & Mr. Floyde turns 9

My Mr. Floyde (pronounced Mistah ♪ ♫ Flooiiiyydeee ♪♪ ♫ )  turns 9 years old this month.   He’s got a life about as good as a cat could get.  The first 2 nights after we brought him home from the humane society, he was barely conscious with the cat flu from the pound.  At one point on the second night of taking turns staying up with him, we really thought he wouldn’t make it.  9 years later, he’s such a pain dream, we can’t imagine life without his constant care and attention.    Just last year, we lost our oldest cat, Taz, to old age.  Now Mr. Floyde rules and reigns supreme in the house.  And he knows that too!  I’ve never tried to make cat treats of any kind homemade, let alone Vegan treats, so this recipe was challenging.   So, not something I’d do very often, but a nice birthday treat.   For when you really want to spoil them….   The number of dogs and cats euthanized each year in shelters has decreased, from 12–20 million to an estimated 3–4 million. However, there’s still work to do: An estimated 2.7 million healthy shelter pets are…

A. B. C. Smoothie Antioxidant Blast in a glass + my “virtual” friend Annie

A. B. C. Smoothie Antioxidant Blast in a glass + my “virtual” friend Annie

Vitamin A + Beta Carotene + Vitamin C = My A. B. C. Smoothie “Antioxidant Blast in a glass” I first saw this drink on Pinterest so I’m not pretending to be so clever as to have created this magnificent tribute to antioxidants and vitamins, but here it is for you now: 2 Carrots (roasted or steamed) + 1 medium size Sweet Potato (cooked) + 1/3 of a fresh Pineapple + 1 inch of fresh Ginger Chill + Blend + Drink = Power Surge! This kind of easy, fantastically healthy and delicious recipe is a great example of small changes I’ve made to my diet in the past 4 years.  Before eliminating  all dairy, and then all animal products in my diet, it was really just ‘what can I eat so I can continue to go’ and ‘how can I stay as thin as possible’  Today things have changed dramatically for me and my diet.  Living a Vegan Plant based lifestyle is such a great confidence builder for me.  I think more kindly about the world and I treat my body more kindly.  I don’t crave Bacon.  I don’t crave fat filled creamy shakes.  I do crave the energy boost and…

On being Vegan…& Floyde has a new friend…sort of?

Notice – the links in this post should be very disturbing to Anyone. We have bunnies!! Wild bunnies that is. I guess it’s wrong to call them ours since they are on their own for food and shelter.   But our woods are full of bunnies this year to watch and enjoy ♥ If there’s anything cuter, I don’t know what it would be with the twitching nose, the radar ears…and of course that cotton tail thumping up and down when they hop through the grass. His fur coat is just gorgeous. Isn’t it?  But then would you wear your dog? So Mr. Floyde, our spoiled cat has become a solo pet in the house this summer since our Taz left us last month and my Sophie died a few years ago.  Floyde has literally taken over the house with no more territorial boundries limiting his gall domain.  He rules the house, but not the yard….these bunnies seem to have a terrifying effect on Mr. Floyde.  Facination with their constant chewing and hopping keeps him occupied for hours perched in the window sills just watching…and waiting for the next Hippity HOP! Some rabbits today aren’t  lucky enough to be jumping through…

Collecting

For some reason, a lot of people start collecting things that have similarities or are just special to them.  Eventually our homes are full of a lot of ‘stuff’…… I started (about 3 decades ago) a collection of unusual salt and pepper shakers: My first set was the birds here near the bottom. They belonged to my Grandmother and I think I just wanted to be a part of her past somehow. I didn’t get very far as you can see here………..but somehow, I wont ever throw this tiny group away for the sake of saying, ‘I collect salt n pepper shakers’ Which obviously, I don’t or I would have a lot more sets than 4. Maybe someday I’ll get a few more? One of two walls we have of Sports Memorabilia I was a little more successful at collecting sports items for my husband.  Mostly because it gave me something to give him as gifts that I knew he would actually appreciate instead of  say…..socks!   But this collection was much more expensive and now we have to ‘worry’ about it anytime a repair guy or stranger comes in the house.                                                                                              Starfish Collection? Then at some point, I tried collecting Star Fish. …
